BEACH BOYS: Recording New Album in a Familiar Place

The Beach Boys upcoming album is being recorded in the same studio where most of Pet Sounds was created. The Los Angeles Times spoke to the guys at Ocean Way Recording on Sunset Boulevard, once known as United Western Recorders, where they said they're about halfway through the project.

Al Jardine revealed he'd recently found a track that the late Carl Wilson had sung, a bridge he had recorded that will be incorporated into a song titled "Waves of Love." His lone regret is that they've yet to find such a segment with the late Dennis Wilson.

The studio stirs up more than Beach Boys memories -- Bruce Johnston recalled Jan and Dean sessions there, while David Marks remembered seeing Ricky Nelson in the building.
