The Baseball Project -- which counts ex-R.E.M. members Peter Buck and Mike Mills amongst its members -- is depressed about San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera's suspension for a testosterone use. Wednesday, the day of that announcement, Baseball Project singer-guitarist Scott McCaughey wrote a song called "Why Melky Why" and recorded it. The track was posted today (Friday) on the band's SoundCloud page.
In related news, Peter Buck has titled his new solo project Richard M. Nixon. The band, which includes longtime R.E.M. associates Scott McCaughhey and Bill Rieflin, will make its live debut September 21st and 22nd at The Sunset in Seattle.
