Yet another documentary about The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson will hit DVD on October 23rd. Songwriter: 1969-1982 is a companion piece to a 2010 film that charted Wilson's songcraft between 1962 and '69.
The Turtles' Mark Volman, Three Dog Night's Danny Hutton, Beach Boy Bruce Johnston and The Wrecking Crew's Hal Blaine are among those interviewed in the movie. But unlike its predecessor, which ran more than three hours and required two discs, this release clocks in at 134 minutes and fits on a single disc.
Other Wilson documentaries include Beautiful Dreamer: Brian Wilson and the Story of Smile, Don Was's I Just Wasn't Made for These Times and Going Home, which chronicles the making of Wilson's That Lucky Old Sun album.
