U2: A New Direction?

Word out of England is that U2 are working on songs with Swedish songwriter Carl Falk, who penned the pop hit "What Makes You Beautiful" by British boy band sensation One Direction. A source says, "The band are back in the studio getting a feel for new material after the last album, No Line on the Horizon. Rapper will.i.am had a credit on that and they are looking to explore that direction further. They have been working with Danger Mouse and RedOne, and are excited about getting to work with Carl Falk."

A spokesperson for U2 was unavailable for comment.
