Burton Cummings' off-and-on partnership with Randy Bachman is off again.

Burton Cummings' off-and-on partnership with Randy Bachman is off again. He tells the Canadian Press, "That's doubtful now, because he's gone back with Fred [Turner] and they're trying to do that whole BTO thing again. We had a great four-five years of Bachman-Cummings, and then we were kind of gearing up to go to Vegas and he decided he'd go with Fred."

Despite the disappointment, Cummings adds his he'll also respect his Guess Who bandmate and songwriting partner. "He's an amazing musician and a wonderful player and we wrote great stuff together, but I really think the days of Bachman-Cummings are done. I wish he and Fred the best. There's no bitterness or weirdness, it serves me better now to be Burton by himself."

His real issue is with Guess Who drummer Garry Peterson and bassist Jim Kale, who control the trademark and now tour with a substitute vocalist. Not only does he not speak with them, he says if the group is ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he'll refuse to appear with them. "Just as Axl Rose could not stand up there [with Guns N' Roses], there's no way I could stand up there with Peterson and Kale after what they've done to the name ... and the next day, [they] go back to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, with some other guy on vocals and some other guy on keyboards and guitars. There's no way. So I'll graciously decline."

Cummings' concert album Live at Massey Hall will be released on Tuesday via Amazon's Canadian branch.
