No Need For Speed

STYX: In No Rush to Make New Album

It's been nearly seven years since Styx released their last studio album, Big Bang Theory, but according to guitarist James "J.Y." Young they're in no rush to release a follow-up. He tells Guitar International that while they've "definitely got plans to work up new music," he looked at more recent albums by Journey and Foreigner featuring new singers and "didn't hear one of those songs ever played on the radio."

He feels the right move for Styx "is to release one track at a time, and if somehow it catches on in a couple of cities," to try to "build some momentum" off that. He says he's been promoting that idea to the band, and that they will eventually release new music. He's just not sure "when and in what form."
