Paul McCartney says one of the dangers of not producing his own recordings is that he could "intimidate" whoever he hires. But on his latest album, New, he faced that possibility four times because he hired four producers -- Giles Martin, Mark Ronson, Ethan Johns and Paul Epworth.
Macca says, "When I get with these guys, I say, 'Look, we're a team. Don't be too precious. Don't have too much respect for me.'"
Of course the plan was to work with just one producer, but he ended up liking what each one brought to the table.
