BLACK SABBATH: Other Drummer Says Get on With It

Although drummer Vinny Appice has been mentioned once again as a possible replacement for Bill Ward in Black Sabbath, Appice thinks the founding members should put aside their contract dispute and go on their reunion tour as planned. He says, "At this point it'll probably be the last Black Sabbath tour. The fans honestly want to see the real band. I would like to see it too -- they play unbelievably together... If they end up doing it with another drummer, it'll be the second-best thing."

No word yet on who Sabbath will bring in to play on the album they're recording or in the handful of shows they'll kick off on May 19th in their native Birmingham, England.

Appice has been the drummer in the Ronnie James Dio versions of Sabbath, including their most recent go-round as Heaven and Hell. But he also toured with them once without banging a single drum. "I was on tour with them in case Bill had a problem. He didn't have any issues, so I went the whole tour without playing. It was ridiculous. I felt like I was getting out of shape from not playing."

Appice is working with his new band, Kill Devil Hill, and is getting ready to go on tour with Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell in the original Dio lineup.
