A funny thing happened to roughly 30 fans at Elton John's show Friday at the newly renovated University of South Florida Sun Dome in Tampa -- they had no seats due to the renovations. With the show under way, venue personnel scrambled to accommodate everyone. Some folks ended up with better seats, but others did not and demanded a refund.
Christine Murphy, a 48-year-old medical coding supervisor, says, "This is fraud. They sold me a product that doesn't exist. That's fraud." She shelled out $315 for her seat. Trent Merritt, general manager of the Sun Dome, says, "Anytime you have 10,000 people in a building for a show like that, there's going to be some customer service issues." He is considering giving people back their money.
Elton's tour moves on to Wheeling, West Virginia on Tuesday.
