ROGER DALTREY: A Tip of the Hat to Macca |
|
Roger Daltrey kicks off his annual run of Teenage Cancer Trust benefit concerts tonight at London's Royal Albert Hall. Daltrey will perform tonight followed by Paul McCartney tomorrow and Pulp, Florence and the Machine and others later in the week. But, like many, Daltrey is most excited to have booked McCartney, who was supposed to do it last year. "Paul has been brilliant," says Daltrey. "We almost got him last year but he couldn't make the date work. He said, 'I'll be there for you next year, Rog' --and here he is. He did a few extra shows in Europe to make it work so no one had to foot the bill of getting his show here -- and that means a lot. To see his full arena show in the Albert Hall will be a once-in-a-lifetime thing. He's the most iconic figure in the world."
