Deep Purple are recording an album.

Deep Purple have been in a Nashville studio working on their next album. Guitarist Steve Morse says, "We’ve been all over the place with this album project -- writing, rehearsing, changing [and] finally, we’re working with [producer] Bob Ezrin. There were some scheduling delays, but finally everybody is in the same room making the final changes to the material. Lots and lots of great stuff -- in fact, too much to put on the album."

This will be Purple's first studio effort since 2005's Rapture of the Deep.
