PAUL McCARTNEY: Onto Ram

Ram, the fourth installment in Paul McCartney's reissue campaign with the Concord Music Group, is in stores today.

Released in 1971, it was his first album following the breakup of The Beatles the year before, and the only released credited to Paul and Linda McCartney. The deluxe version contains four CDs, including the mono version, a bonus DVD, a 112-page book, photo prints, and handwritten lyrics and notes.

In putting it together, McCartney tells us, "What I wanted to do was kind of give a nod to the period when it was created. And my memories from that period are quite hippie... I talked to my team and said, 'Let's try and make it a little bit more down home rather than a big glossy presentation.'" Ram is also be available as a single CD, a two-CD set and vinyl in both stereo and mono, as well as digitally.

The previous three archival re-releases are Band on the Run, McCartney and McCartney Two.

McCartney spoke and participated in a question-and-answer session last Thursday at the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, LIPA, which he founded in 1996.
