THE BAND: Some Are Wondering When They Shall Be Released

A new petition is asking Capitol Records and Eagle Rock Entertainment to release audio and video of The Band's performances from the film Festival Express Live in Canada 1970.

A new petition is asking Capitol Records and Eagle Rock Entertainment to release audio and video of The Band's performances from the film Festival Express Live in Canada 1970.

The 2003 film documented the 1970 train ride across Canada with a passenger list that included The Band, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and Delaney and Bonnie, and stops for concerts in Toronto, Winnipeg and Calgary. Those behind the petition have outlined which songs should be included, such as "Long Black Veil," "Chest Fever," "Don't Do It," "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," "Across the Great Divide," "Up on Cripple Creek" and "The Weight."

The petition also suggests bonus footage and having the video screened at select Cineplex Odeon Theatres in Canada and the U.S., as well as at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas and Levon Helm's studio in Woodstock, New York.
