Reunion To Continue?

BEACH BOYS: Reunion May Continue Beyond September

The Beach Boys may extend their tour beyond late September.

Trying to clear up a swirl of conflicting rumors, Mike Love tells Billboard that while "there's only one 50th anniversary" for The Beach Boys, he says there is a chance the reunited '60s lineup will extend their tour beyond late September -- they're already receiving offers from promoters.

On the other hand, staging the reunion tour is "ridiculously expensive and intense. The thing I like about how we ordinarily do things [with the smaller band featuring him and Bruce Johnston] is it's very streamlined and we sound great and have a good time performing at all sizes of venues. This one you're limited to the larger venues. That's just how it is, the kind of tour it is. That's the only drawback as far as I can see."

And Joe Thomas, who produced the current hot-selling album That's Why God Made the Radio adds that not only is there enough new material recorded for another release -- but the album's final track, the dreamy ballad "Summer's Gone," may be revisited in the future. "Some day Brian would like to reveal to the public what the original 'Summer's Gone' was going to be. It just wasn't it's time yet." Stay tuned.
