RINGO: Why He Was M.I.A.

Ringo Starr couldn't present an award on Sunday night's Grammy Awards because he has pneumonia. His spokeswoman tells us he "regrets that he had to cancel his participation as a presenter." Ringo also had to bail out of Paul McCartney's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Thursday, McCartney's Capitol Studios show that night, and the MusiCares Person of the Year gala honoring McCartney on Friday.

But two members of Ringo's family did attend all three events -- his sister-in-law Marjorie Bach and her husband, Joe Walsh, who sat in with McCartney at the Grammys, as well as on Thursday and Friday. When asked if Ringo was scheduled to have been part of McCartney's Beatles medley, which closed the Grammys, she said, "I honestly don't know."
