RINGO, STEPHEN STILLS: Remembering a Monkee |
|
Ringo Starr was saddened to hear about Wednesday's death of Monkees singer Davy Jones. He issued a statement saying, "God bless, Davy. Peace and love to his family." Jones, the victim of a massive heart attack, was 66. Ringo and Jones also shared a promoter -- David Fishof masterminded The Monkees' 20th anniversary reunion tour in 1986 and came up with and created Ringo's All-Starr Band tour in 1989. Also sorry to hear the news is Stephen Stills, who says, "We have been good friends since his arrival in Los Angeles and at the beginnings of The Monkees. As a fellow horseman, we had remained in contact over the years. Davy always managed to find time to come visit wherever I played. He was a class guy, and, he will be sorely missed." It was Stills who told Jones' future cast member and bandmate Peter Tork about the auditions for The Monkees. |
