Ringo v.2012

RINGO: Number 17

Ringo Starr releases his 17th studio album today. Ringo 2012 contains nine songs, two of which are covers -- Buddy Holly's "Think It Over," which he did for the recent Holly tribute album, Listen to Me, and a take on skiffle legend Lonnie Donegan's "Rock Island Line." He also re-recorded two of his earlier songs -- "Wings" and "Step Lightly."

Joining him on the album is his brother-in-law, Joe Walsh, along with Dave Stewart, Heartbreakers' keyboardist Benmont Tench, Van Dyke Parks, Don Was, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Edgar Winter who has played in his All-Starr Band.

Ringo will be plugging the album with appearances on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson tonight on CBS, and Conan tomorrow night on TBS. He will also be out with a new All-Starr Band this summer.

Last Friday, Ringo and Joe Walsh went to see Paul McCartney's son James perform at the Viper Room in Hollywood. Ringo also has a son who has followed in his footsteps. Zak Starkey drums for The Who.
