DAVE CLARK FIVE: Bass Player Rick Huxley Dead at 71
Dave Clark Five bassist Rick Huxley has passed away at age 71. A lifelong smoker, Huxley died of emphysema Monday in England.
Dave Clark tells the BBC that Huxley was "a dear friend and immensely talented musician with an amazing sense of humor [who] he always made me smile... We'd talk once a week. I spoke to Rick on Friday -- he was in great spirits."
Clark and guitarist Lenny Davidson are the last two surviving members of The Dave Clark Five, who were the second British Invasion band to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008 -- just 10 days after the death of keyboardist and lead singer Mike Smith.
