SEAN LENNON: Now Into Noise

Sean Lennon's new music is improvisational noise rock. The son of John and Yoko tells Rolling Stone that teaming with drummer Greg Saunier as Mystical Weapons was "really one of those magic moments." Their first album is out today.

The product resulted from, two days of recording sessions last year in New York. Lennon, who at 37 is just three years younger than the age his father reached, says they "would turn on the gear and just start wailing... I've sort of burdened myself [in the past] with this idea of trying to write songs. So it was really nice to just break through the confines of my own limitations. It’s incredibly liberating."

Sean's mother, who knows a thing or two about improvisational noise, has not commented publicly on her son's latest project.

Mystical Weapons performed last weekend in Brooklyn, New York. Lennon is hopeful there'll be more shows.
