QUEEN: Let the Extravaganza Begin

The official Queen tribute tour, The Queen Extravaganza, starts tomorrow (Saturday) in Quebec, Canada followed by Montreal on Sunday.

Put together by Queen drummer Roger Taylor following a competition to find the best singers and players, the nine-piece band will be augmented by the full-on Queen production headed by stage designer Mark Fisher, who's assembled such memorable concerts as The Wall for Pink Floyd and every Rolling Stones show since 1989. The lighting director is Willie Williams, who has lit every U2 concert. As for what you can expect, Taylor, the show's musical director, says, "We delve very deep into our catalog. I didn't want to just make it a string of hits... It's an eclectic show. It has a lot of dynamics, quiet moments and very loud moments." The tour runs through July 3rd in Edmonton.
