PINK FLOYD: Lifting the Cover Off a New Shiny Wall |
|
Pink Floyd's "Why Pink Floyd" reissue campaign comes to an end with today's release of the deluxe editions of The Wall. The seven-disc Immersion set includes a DVD featuring a film clip from the 1980 Wall tour, a Behind the Wall documentary and excerpts from Roger Waters' original demos and work-in-progress versions of songs on the final album. Also included are David Gilmour's unheard demos of "Comfortably Numb" and "Run Like Hell." The three surviving band members -- Waters, Gilmour and Nick Mason -- all listened to and approved the material. However, there were no new overdubs. Mason explains, "The feeling was that we should retain the original versions and in general try and keep it exactly [in the same] the state it was [in] when it was originally recorded." Though this ends the reissue campaign, Mason is hoping they do something involving their early albums. |
