TOM PETTY: Tour Starts, With Returned Guitars

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will kick off a 13-date North American tour tonight with the first of two shows in Broomfield, Colorado. It's the first North American date for Petty and the Heartbreakers in two years.

Petty and the Heartbreakers will be in a very good mood, as the five guitars stolen from their rehearsal space in Culver City, California last Thursday were recovered. 51-year-old Daryl Washington, a private security guard at Culver Studios, was arrested Monday night and charged with grand theft. Culver City Police received a tip that one of the guitars was sold at a pawn shop in Hollywood and officers recovered one guitar from the shop. They were then able to track down Washington.

Petty posted a note on Facebook saying, "I am extremely grateful to the Culver City Police Department for a job well done and touched by the outpouring of good wishes and concern from our fans and friends."
