Two Not Better Than One?

ELTON: Smart and Stupid

Elton John and his partner David Furnish have met with a counselor because of their concern that their son Zachary could be "doubly stigmatized" by being raised by two fathers. Furnish says, "We're going to raise him to be proud of who he is... I think he's going to have a lot of attention thrust upon him. He's going to be potentially double stigmatized, because one of his parents is extremely famous and secondly because he comes from two dads... We've put a whole scrapbook together about his creation and the people that were involved in the process and how the intent was about love."

Hopefully Furnish won't be the one to introduce Zachary to social media, as he obviously has no clue about how powerful it is. He says he became "freaked out" over negative statements he'd posted about Madonna last month on Facebook because he thought only his friends could read what he'd written. "It kind of freaked me out because I've been on Facebook for three years and nothing I've ever put on my Facebook page has ever gone into the press. I was embarrassed. I don't want to put negativity out into the world. I like to put positive things out into the world."
