U2: Spidey Producers Sue Taymor |
|
The producers of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, the musical with songs by U2's Bono and The Edge, have counter-sued former director Julie Taymor over the numerous delays and cost overruns it racked up. Taymor originally sued the producers in November for $1 million in damages, claiming that they refused to pay royalties guaranteed by her contract and violated her intellectual-property rights by changing the show without her permission. But the producers' filing says Taymor "insisted on developing a dark, disjointed and hallucinogenic musical involving suicide, sex and death" and that she "stormed out of meetings if changes were even hinted at, and stopped talking to any member of the production who suggested that changes should be made." The Edge is one of the producers, but Bono is not. |
