Former Van Halen singers Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone have differing opinions on the new Van Halen album, A Different Kind of Truth, but they both hate the single "Tattoo You."
- Hagar, who replaced David Lee Roth in 1985 and then came back for a 2004 reunion tour, says, "When I heard 'Tattoo,' that single...it wasn't a song that made me run out and buy their record... I heard another one that was kind of goofy too, and then I heard, on the radio, 'She's the Woman,' and I thought that was kind of cool."
- Cherone, who replaced Hagar in 1996, says, "This record, for me, it's the best thing since Fair Warning. 'Tattoo' is the only misstep. You wait 28 years to hear Van Halen, and in the context of the record, it's not the best song by far."
Van Halen will be in Buffalo, New York tomorrow night and Cherone's hometown of Boston on Sunday.
Hagar has announced the dates for his annual Birthday Bash, October 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Hagar turns 65 on the 13th.
