Veteran Car Run

Nick Mason will take part in a vintage auto race.

On November 4th, Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason will take part in the world's oldest motoring event, the annual London-to-Brighton Veteran Car Run. The race has been a British institution since 1896, although Mason has only been participating since 1985. This year, the vintage car enthusiast will drive a 1901 five-litre Panhard owned by his company, Ten Tenths Limited.

Mason says, "I suspect I was, like most people, guilty of assuming the run was mainly an excuse for dressing up, but experience has taught me that considerable skill is required to keep these brutes going in a straight line, let alone coaxing the gearbox into surrendering another gear."
