ROBIN ZANDER: He Wants You to Help Him Help His Friend

Cheap Trick singer Robin Zander auctioning off a guitar to raise money for his friend with cancer.

Cheap Trick singer Robin Zander is auctioning off a Fender Telecaster guitar signed by him and the other two members of the band -- Rick Nielsen and Tom Petersson -- to raise money for his friend, Fred Brace. On the band's website, Zander writes, "During 1967-68, Fred Brace lived up the street from me. We met just hanging around the neighborhood, eventually forming a band called Butterscotch Sunday... I was 14 -- he was older and had a car! Fred was a cool bass player [and] my mentor and my best friend. I have recently found out that he has bile duct cancer, and as you can imagine, the bills from his frequent hospital stays are astronomical. We’re auctioning off this guitar to help defray the cost of some of the medical bills." The eBay auction ends at 8:46 p.m. ET on Friday. The bidding is at $3,500, but if you can't afford that much, Zander asks you to give a little via a Pay Pal link on the band's site.
