DOORS: Weird Scenes Compilation Being Re-issued

The Doors are reissuing their Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine compilation May 19th. Available as a vinyl limited edition for Record Store Day, this 22-song collection will now be released in the CD and download formats.

A combination of hits, album cuts and non-LP b-sides, Weird Scenes — which takes its name from a lyric in the Doors song “The End” — has been newly remastered by longtime Doors engineer Bruce Botnick.

Notable rarities include “The Spy” from Morrison Hotel and “Running Blue,” first heard on The Soft Parade, plus “Who Scared You,” the other side of the “Wishful Sinful” single; and a cover of Willie Dixon’s “(You Need Meat) Don’t Go No Further,” that was the B-side of the “Love Her Madly” 45.

And a friendly warning — it’s not a pure “hits” collection. Such radio favorites as “Light My Fire” and “Touch Me” are not included.
