BLONDIE: Honored by British Music Magazine’s Readers

It’s another career-spanning honor for Blondie. The iconic band will receive the Godlike Genius Award from the British music magazine NME. Co-founders Debbie Harry and Chris Stein will receive the award in person and also perform live at the NME Awards being held in London on February 26th.

NME’s editor Mike Williams says, “As they celebrate their 40th anniversary, there could be no other band more worthy of being honored as NME’s Godlike Genius 2014 than Blondie… They re-wrote the rulebook in the late ’70s by dragging punk rock to the top of the charts, and their classic songs still sound as fresh as ever today.”

Previous recipients of the reader-voted honor include The Clash, The Cure and Paul Weller.
