Okay Chicken Littles, if you really want to know EXACTLY when to panic, or cover your head, or hide in the basement or get rip-roaringly drunk, Friday is not the party day, my friends. The ACTUAL TIME of the Winter Solstice will occur in Arizona at 4:12AM. Actually 11:12AM at UTC (Universal Time Coordinated - formerly known as Greenwich Mean Time). UTC refers to the time zone that runs along the Greenwich Meridean, a.k.a. 0 degrgees longitude. Seeing as we are 7 hours behind UTC, at precisely 4:12AM AZ time will be the Solstice. So the TRUE End-Of-The-World Parties should REALLY BE Thursday night because we'll all be gone 2 hours after the bars close. I think that's pretty damn convenient! Time for everyone to get home & get to bed before not waking up. We conceivably might go in our sleep! Or even better, stay up partying until 4:12AM & once the clock hits 4:13AM & you're still here, the party can REALLY BEGIN!! Like the end of Wargames! Yea!! Crisis averted!
