BRILLIANT IDEA FOR A NEW RESTAURANT FOR THE FANGORIA SET

MESA, Ariz. - The valley's newest restaurant is sure to entertain its customers -- especially those who like horror movies.

Monsterland in Mesa opens next week -- appropriately enough, on Friday the 13th.

Fox 10’s Dan Spindle gives us a sneak peak.

Nothing about the name suggests a night of eating out, unless, of course, you happen to number among the undead.

But if you’re tired of the same old, same old when it comes to dinner and drinks, you can't miss Mesa's Monsterland Bar and Grill -- where owner Kevin Wynn promises a scary good time.

“What in the world possessed you to do something like this? Are you just obsessed with Halloween and ghouls and goblins?” Spindle asked.

“Actually, my daughter and her boyfriend are into this stuff,” Wynn said.

Now, Wynn's deep into the dark world of ghouls and goblins -- a horror-themed hangout at its best.

Last fall, Monsterland was Mesa's premier haunted house, which is located in the basement of the restaurant.

From cursed tombs to the darkest jungles, and even encounters with Arctic beasts -- it was only natural for the upstairs to take its turn for everyday eating and a frightening nighttime hot spot.

“This is from ‘An American Werewolf in London,’ and it’s a replica,” Wynn said.

With a thrill around every corner, kids and adults will love the Hollywood-quality beasts, bones and body parts, perfectly dismembered and rearranged to make for an ultimately unique restaurant experience.

“Even if you’re not into it though, you’ve got a lot of eye candy here to look at. It’s not going to scare you out of your mind,” Wynn said.

Once the restaurant is up and running, Monsterland is talking about expanding a menu to including vampire steak, maybe bat wings to try, or a bleeding heart -- different menu items that keep with the horror theme.

“If it makes money, I’m a genius,” Wynn said. “Hopefully, people will enjoy the experience. It’s not just dining. It’s not just a bar. It’s an experience.”

Monsterland hopes to be a great place for people to hang out. Pushing forward at a break-neck pace, the craftsmen will be working hard to be open on, when else? -- Friday the 13th of April.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do in our five or six days left, but we’re going to get it. It may not be perfect, but it’ll be good enough for Friday the 13th and to get people in here,” Wynn said.
