
LeCLAIR, Iowa --- Four people were rescued Monday night after the boat they were in drifted into a dam on the Mississippi River.
This afternoon, the Scott County Sheriff’s Department said the four people have been arrested, charged with stealing the boat.
Now facing charges of third-degree theft and harassment of a public official are Christopher Allen Rannow, 25, of Clinton; Anna T. Nelson, 32, of Clinton; Sherrie Lynn Holloway, 52 of Hanover, Ill.; and Jay Michael Parsi, 20, of Hanover, Ill.
The incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. at Lock and Dam 14 in LeClaire. A 911 caller said the boat he was in was drifting in the river, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff’’s Office.
The boat hit the dam before the Corps of Engineers towed the boat to shore.
An investigation conducted at the scene showed the four had stolen a boat from Clinton and trekked south on the Mississippi River, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Assisting on the call were the Scott County Emergency Coomunications Center, Scott County Sheriff’s Office, LeClaire Police and Fire departments, Bettendorf Fire Department, Port Byron Fire Department, Medic and the Department of Natural Resources.
