With both Roger Waters and David Gilmour focusing on their solo careers and David saying he’s done with Pink Floyd, drummer Nick Mason is going to fly the Floyd flag with his new band, Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets.

Named after Floyd’s second album, the group includes Spandau Ballet’s Gary Kemp, Lee Harris of The Blockheads, bassist Guy Pratt — who became the Floyd touring bassist after Waters left and is the son-in-law of the late Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright — and Wright’s collaborator, composer Dom Beken.

Set to do four shows in London next month, they plan to draw mostly from the albums The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets.

With Waters concentrating on songs from the Floyd albums The Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Animals and Wish You Were Here, it’s easy to see why Mason will focus on the early albums.
