Unusual Mini-Golf Courses
Most of us associate putt-putt courses with flat greens and dilapidated windmills, but there’s another breed of mini-golf that puts this antiquated image to shame. Whether you’re shooting for a hole-in-one alongside a fiery volcano, making par in the giant shadow of Paul Bunyan or chasing your ball down Gene Simmons’ outstretched pink tongue, these 9 mini-golf courses are anything but ordinary.
Most visitors head to the Monterey Peninsula for the famed Monterey Bay Aquarium. But if you’d rather golf with sea creatures than simply admire them, play a round on the black-lit Oceans 18 mini-golf course nearby. You’ll score points by putting through a fluorescent shark’s mouth and around a shimmering squid; wear white if you want to glow as brightly as the scenery.
Most bands can’t claim a mini-golf course among the businesses featuring their names and likenesses, but Kiss isn’t most bands. The elaborately costumed rock band comes to life as you play your way through the 18 holes appropriately located across from Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel. Obstacles feature statues of black-lit guitars, drum sets, platform boots and, of course, Gene Simmons’ giant tongue.
