Ringo must need cash because he & wife Barbara Bach are auctioning off 800 items from their personal collection including some very rare Beatles instruments. He says they’ve emptied out properties & storage units from around the globe & some of the items they haven’t even seen in 20 or 30 years.
The Best (in my humble opinion)
1. John Lennon’s 1964 Rickenbacker guitar he played onstage for the Beatles’ 1964 & 1965 Christmas shows. John gave it to Ringo when he was threatening to leave the band in 1968 amid tensions while recording The White Album. it’s expected to fetch $800,000
2. Ringo’s 1st 1963 Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl 4-piece drum kit. It was used in more than 200 performances & to record Beatles classics like “Can’t Buy Me Love”, “She Loves You”, All My Loving” and “I Want To Hold Your Hand”. It’s expected to fetch a cool half million.
3. A Gretsch guitar George Harrison gifted to Ringo. It’s expected to fetch $100,000 – $200,000.
Julien’s Auctions of Beverly Hills is displaying many of the items in NYC’s Hard Rock Cafe starting November 16th.
The auction will be December 4th-5th & is expected to raise $5-$10 million – a generous portion of which will be donated to The Lotus Foundation.
This is believed to be the first time a Beatle has ever auctioned off personal items & the auction house is beside itself with excitement.
