When donning a sports team mascot outfit, you are expected to be a selfless ambassador of the team you represent. Despite what could amount to copious levels of heckling & abuse from fans, you MUST keep your cool at all times. But lest we forget, there is a fallible human being inside that outfit – one that is capable of a weak moment. The fallible human being in the Mr. Met outfit last night after the Mets loss to the Brewers had his weak moment. The latest I’m reading about “Birdgate” is that Mr. Met was the target of many profanity-laced heckles for a good portion of the game & reached his breaking point while exiting the field, flipping the bird at one or more of his hecklers. Unfortunately, this is 2017 & everybody films EVERYTHING anymore & his gaffe was caught on video. Thus, his days wearing a giant foam baseball on his head are now behind him. Sadly, this is currently the highlight of the Mets’ season so far.
