Bob Weir says the remaining members of the Grateful Dead won’t be using the band’s full name for their 50th anniversary shows in Chicago in July.

Weir was a guest on Thursday night’s Late, Late Show on CBS, and he told guest host John Mayer that they’ll call themselves The Dead for the gigs, explaining, “I think the Grateful Dead, you can’t when half of those guys are pushing up daisies, you can’t call it that.” Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann used the name The Dead when they played shows together from 2003 to 2009.

Weir and Mayer teamed up for a couple of Dead songs to wrap up the show, performing “Truckin'” and then “Althea” as the credits rolled. Check out “Truckin'” on YouTube and the full “Althea” performance on the Late Show website.
