Joe Elliott says Def Leppard had two reasons to delay the release of its new album until later this year, when the band is well into its summer tour.

One is that the band got offers from different labels, so it decided to go that route instead of releasing it on its own label. But more importantly, the band hasn’t finished it yet. Elliott will be back in the studio next week to add more lead vocals to songs, as well as polishing off the lyrics for a couple others.

Elliott says fans may end up hearing new music from them before Def Leppard reaches their city. He explains, “We may put a single out in the middle of the tour. I don’t know yet because — seriously — I’m making this up as we go along. I don’t know yet what we’re going to do.”
