 BEATLES: 50th Anniversary Countdown

Due to the year-and-a-half gap between The Beatles’ breakthrough in England and their arrival in the U.S. — compounded by Capitol Records’ initial lack of interest — Beatles recordings were released in the U.S. by several different labels in 1964. Among the most confusing situations was the album Introducing The Beatles. First issued in the summer of 1963 — when Vee-Jay Records estimated that it sold just 500 copies — it was actually a retitled version of the disc sold in Britain as Please Please Me.
