PAUL RODGERS: Royal Apple Sessions
Paul Rodgers is in New York this week for a very special show tonight (Thursday) at Town Hall, just off Times Square. He’s celebrating his new album The Royal Sessions, a collection of soul and R&B covers, by performing with the musicians who played on the album — many of whom played on legendary songs by Al Green, Albert Collins, Boz Scaggs, Rufus Thomas, Albert King and many others.
Rodgers says, “[This music] has taken me all around the world…and I finally came full circle back to Memphis at the Royal Studios, and it was such a great opportunity to revisit this music and recharge my batteries.”
Rodgers warmed up for tonight with an intimate show Tuesday night at the iHeartRadio Theatre in New York, which was filmed for a PBS special. All the proceeds from the sale of The Royal Sessions are going to the Stax Music Academy in Memphis.
