David Bowie is getting his day. Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel has declared September 23rd David Bowie Day in the Windy City in conjunction with the opening of the David Bowie Is… exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

In his proclamation, Emanuel says Bowie is “an undisputed global icon boasting a catalog of 26 critically acclaimed studio albums,” whose “remarkable half-century career has bridged cultures and faiths while both transcending and fortifying the music, art, fashion and design, and theatrical canons.”

Fat chance the very reclusive Bowie will show up to acknowledge the honor, but you never know.
