PHIL COLLINS: Cancels Rare Performance
He was only supposed to be performing three or four songs, but an illness kept him from taking the stage at all.
Having already announced that his appearance at Saturday’s fundraiser for his Little Dreams Foundation during Miami’s Art Basel would be brief and semi-acoustic, Phil Collins was unable to do even that due to illness.
Collins was the victim of a neurological disorder that occasionally strikes him. He ended up on the sidelines as others performed — including his 13-year-old drummer son Nick‘s band, The Lost, and Richard Marx. After the show, Collins thanked the crowd for coming and apologized to them, saying he’d been working with doctors during a couple of days of rehearsal, but in the end was unable to go on.
Collins hasn’t done a full-length performance since the 2010 Montreux Jazz Festival. This past May he sang “In the Air Tonight” and the Genesis song “Land of Confusion” backed by a band of students at the private school his son attends in Miami. (Miami.com)
