Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf, begins his first North American tour in 38 years tonight in Toronto. Dubbed The Peace Train…Late Again, the show leans heavily on his hits, as well as ones he wrote that became hits for others.

He says, “I’m trying to reclaim ‘The First Cut Is the Deepest,’ because everybody thinks Rod Stewart wrote it.” He’ll also slip in several numbers from his new album, Tell ‘Em I’m Gone. He says, “They’re great to play live, because they’re very up and very exciting. It involves me playing more electric guitar, which I enjoy a lot.”

The six-city tour ends December 14th in Los Angeles.
