CHRISSIE HYNDE: Endorsing & Riding in Eco-Friendly Replacement for Horse-Drawn Cab
The “Brass in Pocket” voice will arrive at her New York concert in a non-polluting car that could replace New York’s horse-drawn carriages.
Chrissie Hynde is giving a strong endorsement to a vehicle that could one day replace New York’s famed horse-drawn carriages. The longtime animal-rights advocate will arrive at her Wednesday concert at the Beacon Theater riding a Horseless eCarriage. This battery-powered replica of a classic open car has been proposed as a humane replacement for the horse-drawn buggies that have drawn a widening circle of critics — including Mayor Bill DeBlasio, who wants the animal-propelled rides discontinued.
The Pretenders voice says in a statement, “The eCarriage will mean New Yorkers will no longer have to step in manure or worry about a spooked horse smashing into a cab. This safer, humane alternative will also create jobs.”
