YARDBIRDS: Shutting the Coop
The current members of the legendary band will go their separate ways after January.
The current version of The Yardbirds will do their last show on January 30th at the 100 Club in London. Jim McCarty, the band’s original drummer, says, “The Yardbirds as a band has continued to evolve through the years with great musicians playing all around the world. The current lineup of the group will be parting ways at the end of the year, and I will be working on solo ventures and other Yardbirds projects in 2015.”
Top Topham, the group’s first guitarist, before Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page came along, returned to the lineup in 2013, replacing another founding member, rhythm guitarist Chris Dreja [pr: DRAY-ha], who had to retire due to health reasons.
