PROCOL HARUM: Fanfest Set for Long Island, New York in July
Fanfests for enduring groups such as The Beatles and Monkees are not that unusual. But we’ve just learned of one being planned for Procol Harum. Yes, the band generally known for just two hits, “A Whiter Shade of Pale” and “Conquistador,” and hardly a mainstay of the North American tour circuit.
Set for July 12th at Westbury, New York — close to the band’s show that evening — the event promises “an aftershow… where Procol Harum head the guest-list, and where music and partying will continue until the small hours.”
The organizers of the Procol Harum Convention in the U.S. have run several such events in the past — including one in 2003 in L.A. Last year, they held one in Wuppertal, Germany.
Procol Harum — fronted by original keyboardist and vocalist Gary Brooker — will tour North America in July, beginning October 10th in Ottawa.
