Condolences to Moody Blues bassist John Lodge on the death of his mother.
Bruce Springsteen kicked off his tour Down Under Wednesday night with the first of three shows in Perth, Australia. Night one featured the tour premiere of “Frankie Fell in Love” from High Hopes as well as a cover of Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away.” Shows two and three in Perth are Friday and Saturday.
Queen guitarist Brian May was in Prague earlier this week where he recorded a new version of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” with an orchestra. May says, “It’s slightly mad. My ‘1812 Overture’ will have just a bit of guitar in it! I think Tchaikovsky would have loved electric guitar.”
Paul McCartney will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Iowa Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. He was chosen for the honor because he performed in Iowa and has endured as a prolific, influential songwriter. The induction ceremony is August 31st in Arnolds Park, Iowa. No word if Macca plans to attend as that is when he traditionally takes his summer vacation.

Paul Rodgers has started to add more dates to his tour in April and May in support of his new album, The Royal Sessions, which came out yesterday (Tuesday).
