Eddie Van Halen made the rounds this week at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) convention in Anaheim, California.

Paul McCartney tweets that he “can’t wait to see what all my good friends have in store for their performances at the Grammy Awards” Sunday night. Specifically he means Ringo, Dave Grohl and Queens of the Stone Age. Macca will also be performing.

A year ago Billy Joel wasn’t sure he would ever tour again. Now he is adding show after show, including his second and third stadium shows this summer. He will follow up Chicago’s Wrigley Field on July 18th with a July 26th date at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. followed by one on August 2nd in Citizen Bank Park in Philadelphia. Joel starts his one-show-a-month run at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Monday.

Jackson Browne, David Lindley, Elvis Costello drummer Pete Thomas, David Hidalgo of Los Lobos and his sons David Junior and Vincent are among the guests on the debut solo album by Social Distortion guitarist Jonny Two Bags (aka Jonny Wickersham). Salvation Town will be released on April 1st.

After years of primarily licensing his music for use in car company commercials, Pete Townshend has given Sony the rights to use The Who’s “Join Together” in a new TV spot.
