Before Sammy Hagar headed down to his home in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for the remainder of the year, he gave quite the Christmas gift to a homeless organization in his hometown of Mill Valley, California.

He made what is described as a “generous donation” to Ambassadors of Hope and Opportunity, which helps homeless young people get off the streets and into housing, school, jobs and services. And if that weren’t enough. Hagar’s friend, Journey guitarist Neal Schon, matched Hagar’s donation. The Ambassadors group has to raise $20,000 in the next few weeks in order to have that money matched by two other donors.

Hagar is down in Cabo for a free New Year’s Eve show at his Cabo Wabo Cantina on Wednesday.
