AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been arrested and charged in a murder-for-hire plot. He allegedly sought to have two people killed.

He was arrested on Thursday morning at his home in Matua, New Zealand, which is 18 hours ahead of the Eastern time zone in the U.S. He was also charged with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and threatening to kill.

He is out on bail and due in court November 27th.

The 60-year-old plays on the band’s new album, Rock or Bust, but was not part of last month’s video and photo shoot in London due to “a family emergency.” Our source Down Under tells us that today’s developments are the actual explanation for his absence.

The other members of AC/DC have not commented on Rudd’s arrest.

This is not Rudd’s first run-in with the law. In 2010 he was arrested for marijuana drug possession. In 2007, he plead guilty to common assault following a 2006 incident with an ex-girlfriend.
